s'been a bit of a ride..

Dec 9, 2017 12:23 AM by Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Just renewed my OD Subscription again ( thanks for the nice price by the way ) and I realize that gadz.... I've been lurking about this place for a couple months past 16 years now.

I'd like to take a moment and just say that while I've often not been the model citizen in this county that I still value each and every one of you folks.

Just like family, we all get bitchy and slappy from time to time. I've extended my bitchy a bit too often at times, but never buried the good times.

Thanks Brad, SD and members of the great community, both current and past!

Not too long ago I stumbled upon a page where I could reset/deactivate products that I've activated.

I can no longer find that. Could someone point me in the right direction?

conflict with start menu name

Mar 20, 2017 7:28 PM by Discussion: Fences

Perhaps this has been brought up before and I missed it...

Windows 10 Enterprise x64

Start 10

Fences 3

So I created a new fence and named it VMWare. There was already a start menu folder with that name.

Fences replaced that folder with a fence folder and in turn wiped out the original contents of the vmware start menu folder. I had to delete the fence and actually run a repair installation of vmware workstation 12 to get the proper shortcuts back in place. ( I couldn't simply put them there as the original start menu folder is at c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs which is a protected location. I could have gotten around it by other means but a repair install was faster. )

I'm trying to use Start8tweak to unload Start8 which was the prescribed method in the past.

Now, when you try to launch it, it just opens https://www.stardock.com/products/start8/update.asp .

I'm already running the latest version (1.47).

multiplicity version 3.0 KVM Pro Build 00055

Win 8.1 Enterprise x64

On secondary system, I do not get a mouse cursor displayed unless there is a mouse actually connected to the system. Is this normal behavior?

One thing that would occasionally frustrate me with Win 8 start menu (the native one, not a start 8 one) was the inability to launch 2 or more instances of an application by clicking the tile. One application that I do this with frequently is Putty. I would always have to explore to the programs executable and launch the second instance.

Well, here is a little registry tweak that will allow multiple instances to be launched (assuming that the application support it).

Go here.. http://teamwindows8.com/2013/04/launch-multiple-instances-of-app-from-start-screen-in-windows-8/

Or simply copy and paste this in to notepad. Save the file as a .reg type and launch it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Launcher]
"DesktopAppsAlwaysLaunchNewInstance"=dword:00000001
